COZY Radio Finds a Home on Radio 80000
Munich's non-commercial community radio gave us a monthly slot. Every Friday, 14:00-16:00 CET. Here's why community radio matters more than ever.
COZY Radio now has a permanent home. Radio 80000 โ Munich's non-commercial community radio station, broadcasting from Dachauer Str. 110c since 2015 โ has given us a monthly residency. Every Friday, 14:00โ16:00 CET.
Why Radio 80000
In a world of algorithmic playlists and monetized streams, community radio is radical. Radio 80000 is run by volunteers. No ads. No sponsors dictating playlist decisions. No data-driven programming. Just people who care about sound, sharing it with anyone who tunes in.
That ethos aligns perfectly with COZY. We've always been about curating experiences that can't be replicated by an algorithm. A two-hour radio show lets us do what a DJ set at a club can't: go deeper. Transition slower. Play that seven-minute track that would clear a dancefloor but rewards patient listeners.
What COZY Radio Sounds Like
If you've been to a COZY event, imagine the warmup set stretched into a full experience. We start slow โ ambient textures, spoken word, deep soul cuts. Then we build. Batida rhythms layer in. A hip-hop instrumental from a producer in Sรฃo Paulo. A house edit of a track you thought you knew. By the second hour, we're in full flow โ the kind of musical journey that makes you forget you're listening to a radio show.
Every episode is different. We don't have a formula. SONGO, CHADEE, and guest selectors rotate through the residency, each bringing their own sonic fingerprint.
The Archive
Every episode is archived on SoundCloud at soundcloud.com/cozysoundsystem. As of this writing, we have 20+ episodes spanning two years. They're perfect for long drives, studio sessions, or those afternoons when you need something playing but can't deal with the radio.
Community Radio in 2024
Stations like Radio 80000 matter because they create space for sounds that don't fit mainstream formats. They give emerging DJs and selectors a platform before they have an audience. They preserve the idea that radio is a public good, not a product.
COZY is proud to be part of that tradition. Tune in live on radio80k.de, or catch up on SoundCloud. We'll be here every month.
